The complete renovation of the Ambassador House, built in 1989, incorporates the exposed building into its changed environment. Its three-part structure of foundation, central building and upper floors has been retained. Extending the inner courtyards down to the ground floor and enlarging the upper floors resulted in a redistribution of the available space. The protruding central building marks the new main entrance on Thurgauerstrasse. The entire ground floor and part of the first floor are intended for public use such as restaurants, conferences and fitness spaces. The other floors accommodate offices – with a total of 57,000 m2 of usable floor space, one of the largest contiguous office spaces in Switzerland.
