Full renovation of a listed office building from the 1970ies.
Planning 2014-2015 / Construction 2014-2016
Built by Eberhard Eidenbenz in 1964, the striking office building in the Seefeld quarter is among the foremost examples of post-war modernism in Zurich. The most extensive interventions in the complete renovation were to the building’s technical installations and the façade. The original aluminium pivoting windows had absolutely no sun protection. To retain the outward expression of the building, the existing façade was equipped with a new layer of windows on the inside. The rubber seals of the existing windows were removed so that air could circulate in the space between. This is where the new sun protection is situated. A Rio-Therm system integrated into the façade parapet provides air conditioning.
