In Lindau, farmers, agronomists and vets work together to carry out research into a sustainable global food supply. Critical planning objectives included integrating modern research facilities, coordinating the priorities of the future users, and meeting the requirements of the unusual inhabitants – the cows. Just as in the tender design by Itten+Brechbühl, the completed project is dominated by the distinctive and functional shed roofs and wood throughout. The clear demarcation of functional areas through the arrangement of the buildings continues in the colour scheme of the interior rooms.
