Extension and new building
Architecture and Management
The project consists of a new office building for 2,500 employees and a redundant mechanical facilities as an extension of the Uetlihof Center built in the 70ies.
Planning 2005-2012 / Construction 2008-2012
Stücheli architects have been involved in the development of this massive complex at the foot of the Uetliberg mountain for 30 years. By adding a new extension, the number of workplaces was increased to 8,500. The façades of the new building maintain the impression of tectonic layers that is evident from the very bottom levels. Ribbon windows alternate with parapet wall elements made of textured concrete. Inside, the various functions are spread out over the entire area. Three atria bring in natural light, aid air flow and provide informal meeting areas. With its large structures, open spaces, interconnecting areas and infrastructure, the Uetlihof forms a self-contained urban system.
